Christmas Tree Box Card

Happy Humpday!

I have to let you know that I simply love making the projects from http://simplycraftysvgs.com  First of all, all of their projects go together quickly and easily.  The sizing is spot on so you don't have to worry about certain pieces "not fitting correctly".  A few days go I shared my version of their Christmas Tree Pick-up truck.  The Christmas Box Card set contains three (3) super cute cards.  The file can be found at http://simplycraftysvgs.com/shop/holidays/christmas-box-card-set/.  This is the picture of the cards contained in the set:

For today's project, I made the Christmas Tree Box card.  I added my own touch to the card to "make it mine".  I happen to like using gestures I my projects.  For the snow at the bottom and sides of the card, I used Faber-Castell Glitter Bead Gel.  This Gel is fun to work with and you can add color to it by using a little bit of your favorite color reinkers!  For the tops of the trees, I used Faber Castell Whipped Spackle and while it was still wet, sprinkled on a little clear glitter!  You can also add color to the Whipped Spackle using your reinkers.  And for the tree ornaments, I used Platinum Stickles Glitter Glue for the garland,  and for the ornaments I used some of my glitter dots I had in my stash.  So here's my take on this card!!  I hope you enjoy this post and thanks for looking!

Faux Rusting

Hi there!  Today I will be sharing my faux rusting technique that I used on my pick-up truck card.  The items you will need most of you will already have in your home.  They are: craft paint, mod podge, cinnamon (yep the spice), and a heat tool.

Since I am rusting small things, I'm using a q-tip to apply the paint and a toothpick to apply the mod podge.  Of course for larger items, you would use a paint brush.  The first thing to do is apply some paint to your object.  The color you use depends on the look you want.  Rust has many color variations, so you could use black, brown, yellow, orange, terracotta....you get the idea.

Once the paint is applied, sprinkle some cinnamon on the paint.  Use your finger to really push it into the paint.

Next, apply a thin layer of mod podge over the paint/cinnamon.

Now, using your heat tool, start heating the painted area.  You will see the mod podge start to bubble and the texture starting to form.  Heat until the mod podge isn't white anymore.  It only takes a few seconds!

If you want more texture, simply add more cinnamon to your object while it's still warm, then sprinkle with cinnamon again, then heat set it.  The more layers, the more texture!  This technique can be used on most any type of material. I have not tested it for outdoor use, so I'm not sure if it would hold up or not.

Thanks asking about the tchnique I used, and if you have any questions or comments, please leave them below!

Santa Express

Good morning and Happy Election Day!

Today I am sharing a bendi card I made using a basic bendi design from the Silhouette Store.  The paper I used for this card is Doodlebug Design Here Comes Sant Claus and Doodlebug Design Petite Prints.

The die cuts are Doodlebug's new release cuts in the Silhouette Design Store. I just cut out the images I wanted to add to my card, glued them together, and added them to the card using pop dots.  Super quick and easy way to make a card!

Have a great day!

Happy Fall

Hope you're having a great day after Halloween!  I here to share a step card I created using files from the Scrappy Dew Vault.  I have found an amazing amount of great files the Vault!

For this card I used Sprinkled with Love (which is in the Scrappy Dew Vault), and the sentiment is from Squirrely Fun.  For the centers of the sunflowers, I used Stampendous Fragments in Copper.  I think it gives the flowers just the bling they need.  The background paper is from Canvas Corp.  if you've never tried their paper before, you need to!  It's heavy weight and they have a lot designs to choose from!

Happy Crafting!!
